Retreat Guidelines For a Safe and Supportive Experience

Holiday Haven | Shared Values

We’ve designed this quilting retreat to be a place where everyone feels connected and comfortable. To help create a positive environment, we ask you to follow a few simple guidelines:

  • Self-Care First: Take care of yourself and honor your limits. Speak up about your needs, and don't hesitate to set boundaries.

  • Respect for Others: We’re all here to learn and grow. Let’s support each other by listening with empathy and staying curious about one another’s experiences.

  • Respect Personal Space: Let’s all be mindful of each other’s needs and feelings. If something triggers you, take a moment to pause, reflect, and share respectfully.

  • Focus on the Present: Our time together is about the here and now, not past conflicts or issues outside the group.

  • Honesty & Openness: Sharing how you truly feel helps us all connect. Be honest and trust that we’re all here to support each other. Simply put - no time for drama.

  • Confidentiality: What happens here, stays here. Please respect the privacy of all members and keep personal details shared in the group confidential.

  • Commitment & Flexibility: If you need to cancel, please do so 30-days in advance to avoid losing your deposit. You can reschedule your stay for another time if needed.

By following these guidelines, we can create a warm, welcoming space where everyone feels valued and inspired. Let’s make the most of our time together.

Come stay with us and keep coming back—it’s all about creating meaningful experiences. And who would’ve thought it would happen over crafting? Let’s make the most of our time together and respect the moments we share.

FAQs

What is the minimum stay required?

We have a 3-night minimum stay to give you ample time to relax, quilt, and enjoy the retreat.

What should I bring?

We want you to feel right at home. Think of this retreat as a space to provide a cozy place to lie your head with fresh linens, towels, and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash). You'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay, but you're welcome to bring any extras you’d like. For example, we provide a throw blanket and pillow, but if you’d like an additional or personal one, feel free to bring it along.

For quilting, please bring all the supplies you need for your project, including your own fabric, sewing machine, and tools. In the future, our on-site store will offer a variety of quilting materials. If you're taking a class, a fabric kit will be included.

Do you offer classes?

Yes, we offer a range of classes for all skill levels. Some of our popular classes include rope bowls and Kimberbell events. Kits with fabric are provided, so you won’t need to worry about prepping, and we will share a specific supply list ahead of time.

Can I purchase supplies at the retreat?

Not at this time, but soon, there will be a store! Our store will offer a variety of quilting essentials, including fabric, threads, and kits.

Is there space to work on large quilting projects?

Yes, our spacious quilting room, Holiday Haven Hideout, is designed with plenty of tables and plugs to accommodate large projects. We also provide wallboards for laying out your designs.

Will meals be included?

No, meals are not included, but the retreat has a fully-stocked kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. We provide all tableware, cookware, and pantry essentials. You can plan a potluck with your group. Grocery stores nearby are HEB and Walmart. We do have a gourmet kitchen on site with 12 burners, two convection ovens, and two regular ovens. It’s always fun to share recipes (maybe bring extra printed).

Are there stairs?

No, the entire Home, Hideout and Hall are conveniently located on one floor. We’ve designed the space with safety and accessibility in mind, ensuring that all pathways are wide, open, and easy to navigate. This makes it simple for everyone to move around comfortably, whether you're working on a project or relaxing with friends.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3 PM, but if there’s no scheduling conflict, you may be able to arrive as early as noon—just ask ahead! Check-out is at 11 AM to allow time to prepare for the next group. If no one is arriving the same day, a later check-out may be possible—again, feel free to ask!

How long have we been in business?

We’re a newer facility in this community, with our doors officially opening in 2024. Our founder, Evelyn Sorensen, is a seasoned quilter with a Masters Degree in Education who has been perfecting her craft for years and teaching others for the past 8 years. Her dream was to create a cozy, welcoming space where everyone could gather and enjoy quilting together. Every detail of this retreat has been thoughtfully crafted with care, creativity, and a whole lot of love.
